A beautiful beach day いい天気

 It was Poya day yesterday.  How did you spend the day?  Did you go to the temples and spend time with family?
Very good sunny days these days and it seems the regular customers want cold noodles and Tekka don (Fresh Tuna on sushi rice).   That menu was sold well!   Hotness may make us crave cold foods.
最近スリランカもとてもいい天気が続いています。そして、やはり、日中は暑いです。。でも、空を見上げるととても綺麗な青空で、海に行きたくなる気分です。お客様も暑いせいか、つめたい物を好まれるような気がします。


I think you know what it is.
It is lemongrass. 
これは、何だかお分かりですか？レモングラスです。

 My mother made lemongrass sorbet.  It is very fresh flavour and very match with honey and mint.  We hope we can serve you it as a dessert.
母がレモングラスのシャーベットを作ってくれました。蜂蜜とミントがとても合っていて、さわやかな風味です。少しでも、暑さがやわらぐといいのですが。。

Always hot climate though.. 暑中お見舞い申し上げます。

Good afternoon, everyone. How are you doing?  You maybe in summer holidays now.  In Japan, this time is the hottest season and we eat cold foods though some of my friends from abroad did not like cold foods!  Snow sweets (shaved ice with flavored syrup) and cold noodles are popular.  Since hotness makes our appetite lose, we have cold noodles.  There are many kinds of noodles like Somen (thinnest white noodles) - we do not say 'cold' Somen as Somen mentions it is cold and hot somen has another name Nyumen, Cold Soba (gray coloured buckwheat noodles), Cold Udon (thick white noodles), and so on.   And this is one of typical cold noodles Japanese seasonal food 'Hiyashi Chuka' Cold egg noodles with ham and salad.  We don't sell it at the restaurant and just made it for us.  This time we send post cards (changing to Email nowadays) for midsummer greetings like new year cards.  "Sho chu- Omimai Mo-shi agemas." ( Hope you are well even in the hottest season.)  And I'm telling my friends to visit Sri Lanka this hottest season in Japan and it maybe more comfortable to spend time here.

暑中お見舞い申し上げます。皆様いかがお過ごしですか？日本はニュースや新聞等によりますと、大変暑く、予期しない豪雨に見舞われている地域もあるとお聞きします。スリランカも暑いでしょう？とよく聞かれますが、この時期は、もしかしたら、日本で過ごすより快適ではないかと思います。適度な風が吹き、雨が降ると涼しくなるからです。常夏なので、涼しく感じるだけなのかもしれませんが・・。先日、お店では出してませんが、まかないで冷やし中華を作りました。そうめんも大好きなのですが、野菜もとりたいということで、冷やし中華に・・。どちらも、日本の夏という感じですね。

Light delights 自宅で気の合う友人と

' I will invite my three friends and have some light dinner.  Could you make some light foods for us?'  A customer asked us to arrange their dinner.   As we heard they would have some liquors with them, we suggested the menu.   As they are the regular customers and we know their favorites, we could suggest some foods not from the delivery and restaurant menu.  We can arrange the foods depends on your needs. Please do not hesitate to ask us!   We are happy you would enjoy our foods with your company.

「友人と4人で家飲みをするんだけど、軽くおつまみ作ってもらえないかしら。。」と言う、お客様のご要望にお答えして、お作りしました。メニューにないものも可ということでしたので、メニューにはない、春巻き、サーモンマリネ、焼き鳥、お肉などをご用意しました。お酒のお供ということでしたので、軽くお召上がり頂けたのではないでしょうか？常連のお客様でしたので、お客様の好みを想像して提案しました。皆様も、ご要望がございましたら、遠慮なくお問い合わせ下さい！

Inari zushi a popular sushi in Japan 稲荷寿司

 There are many kind of sushi in Japan.  This is one of popular sushi called 'Inari zushi' Sushi covered with Fried tofu. As it is very difficult to get good conditioned Fried tofu in Sri Lanka, there is no in the menu.  Have you tried Inarizushi before? 

言わずと知れた稲荷寿司です。スリランカで手に入る材料は限られていますが、油揚げもそのひとつです。日本では普段食べているものでも、外国で口にするのは難しかったりしますよね。メニューにはありませんが、お客様からの特別注文で作りました。握り寿司や巻き寿司は外国の方にも人気ですが、稲荷寿司はあまりご存知でないようですね。どうしてでしょうか？

Hi friends, how are you?  Sorry but I could not upload new articles on this blog.  As I have a lot of things to write, I will write more this month.  These days Sushi orders more!  We are happy you like our sushi and we like our sushi very much.  If you eat them once, you will not forget its taste..
