ひんやりした冷気がとても気持ちがいいです。先日のポーヤデーの満月は、
朧月夜でした。でも、朧月って春の夜の月しか言わないのですかね？

Japanese sweets 和菓子いろいろ

Hello, how are you?
I would like to write about Japanese sweets. As I wrote here before, we make Japanese sweets everyday. Especially Japanese customers can enjoy them remembering farther Japan and Foreign customers who love Japanese sweets,too.
Some customers take care about much sugar. Japanese sweets are sweet but less calories comparing to the cakes which used butter, oil, milk and sugar. Most kinds of Japanese sweets are not used oil but just vegetables. Hope you enjoy our Japanese sweets, too!
In Japan, we can buy Japanese sweets at the shop. There are many kinds of varieties and I often can not choose one but buy more sweets. My mother has an experience to work at a Japanese sweets maker after she graduated from the college. She was curious how to make Japanese sweets and fortunately the owners allow her to learn them. She could luckily had learned some Japanese sweets. She sometimes says that she has never expected to make Japanese sweets in Sri Lanka!


これらは、カフェジャパンで出した和菓子の一部です。上の写真は栗蒸し羊羹、下は、ミニ紅白大福です。
日本に居たときには作ってもらった記憶がないのですが、母は、最初に和菓子屋さんに就職したそうです。その時に、その会社で色々なことを学ばせてもらったと話してくれました。和菓子職人さんがたくさんいる所にも、入らせてもらい直に色々なことを見れたと言っています。なかなか、中まで入らせてくれない所も多い中、社長さんには感謝しているといつも言っています。
その時の経験が今に生きると思わなかったともよく話しています。
「まさか、スリランカで和菓子を作るとは・・。」
私も、色々学びたいと思うのですが、怠け者の私は、いつまでたっても上手になりません。。
ちなみに、栗蒸し羊羹の側に写っている綺麗な蘭の花は「お店に飾ってください。」と、先日お客様がお持ち下さったものです。
何でも、お庭に100以上の蘭の花が咲いているとか。羨ましいです。

KATSU-DON カツ丼

KATSU-DON is Pork cutlet and egg on rice bowl. Katsu means cutlet and Don means a bowl (Donburi in Japanese).
I think Katsu-Don is one of popular Japanese food. When I was a child, my favorite food was Katsu-don. If we say Katsu-Don, usually pork is used in Japan. You will discover that it is difficult to find Chicken Katsudon in Japan. However, in our menu, we have both Pork Katsu-don and Chicken Katsu-don since there are some people who do not eat pork in Sri Lanka. It is a little culture shock for us to have both Chicken katsudon and Pork Katsudon. ;> We are trying to repeat the customers' orders in order to avoid the mistakes chicken or pork. It is very important here!!
When some vegetarian customers asked vegetable-Don, we make it without pork and chicken　and with egg or without egg.
Both Katsu-Don and Chicken Katsu-Don are very popular at our restaurant. It is interesting that they are popular among foreign and Sri Lankan customers,too.

おなじみのカツ丼です。日本人なら、カツ丼とくれば、ポークですが、スリランカにはポークやビーフを召し上がらない方もたくさんいらっしゃいます。ですので、鶏メニューは欠かせません。そこで、チキンカツ丼も用意しています。カツ丼は、スパイシーな料理に慣れたスリランカの人には受け入れられない味なのかなあと思っていましたが、意外や意外、とても人気のあるメニューです。
また、ベジタリアンのお客様でも、同じような丼ご飯を召し上がりになりたいお客様もいらっしゃるので、そういう時は、お肉を使わないで、野菜だけを玉子とじしてご飯の上に乗せています。これも、玉子の食べられないお客様ですと、お野菜だけになります。

10月の日替わりメニュー

先月、お楽しみデーで好評を頂いた　’海老天とじ丼’　を２日用意しました。
日替わり弁当は、価格を安価で提供するために、数量を限定して作ります。ですので、人気のあるメニューは１１時前に終了することがあります。早い方は、前日や一週間前でも注文して下さいますので、早目の注文をお勧めします。

magazines 雑誌

I like MANGA-comic books and magazines, too. There are many kinds of magazines from Japan like fashion from teen to over　60, sports, news, for men and women, and so on. Especially, as for fashion, magazines in spring and summer　are helpful since it is always summer in Sri Lanka. But sometimes Autumn and winter magazines inspires me the latest fashion. Many foreign customers enjoy those　Japanese magazines, too. Smarties are sensitive to the time. ;>

先日、お客様が、日本に一時帰国されるという話になりました。その時、お客様が、
「何か日本から買ってきましょうか？」
と、おっしゃったので、
「じゃ、男性誌を・・・」
と、言ったら、一瞬の沈黙が流れました。

「男性誌　＝　エロティックなもの　」ではなく、「男性誌　＝　Leonのようなちょい悪男の雑誌とか、週刊新潮、文春など」をイメージしていたのですが、おかしくてお互いに笑ってしまいました。
でも、見事に、私たちの意をつく雑誌を買ってきてくださいました。ありがとうございます。

女性誌は、なんとかわかるのですが、男性が読むのってどんなものなんだろうねぇとちょっと興味津々でもありました。
女性誌も、ギャル雑誌から、年代に合わせた、ママ雑誌、２０代、30代、４０代以降のものまでありますので、楽しんでくださいね。今月は、シルバーウィークも手伝って、日本からの来客もあり、１０月号の雑誌がいっぱいあります。
それにしても、日本にはたくさんの雑誌がありますよね。すごいです。
時々、こっそり、自分の雑誌を置いて下さるお客様もいらっしゃって、心憎い気配りに感謝しています。

ちなみに、ギャル雑誌は、外国人のお客様にも好評です！興味を持ってご覧になられます・・・。
