A Super food Moringa スーパーフード⁈

One day, my mother asked me with pointing an article of a Japanese fashion magazine if  Moringa means Murunga(drumsticks).  Actually I was not sure whether it is the same thing but we recognized it was the same after looking into it.  It says that Moringa comes from Murungai in Tamil word and it is called Murunga in Sri Lanka.  The Moringa is yielded maximum in the world and yielded in Sri Lanka, too.  The article said the Moringa is drawn attention the most as a superfood this year and Moringa is used for food all part leaves, stems, flowers, roots, seeds and pods and contains about 90kinds of nourishment.  Moringa is called in other words,  Miracle tree or Tree of lives.
After we read the article, we made Murunga curry and ate.  The drumsticks just boiled with salt are also tasty, too.   When the tourists visit Sri Lanka,  we would like them to try drumstick curry.
ある日、雑誌を読んでいた母から、モリンガって知ってる？ムルンガの事だと思うんだけど…と、雑誌の記事を指しながら尋ねられました。そして、アンチエイジングなどスーパーフードとして紹介されていました。記事をよく読むと、ムルンガ(ドラムスティック)の事でした。何気なく読んでいましたが、モリンガと言われてピンと来ませんでした。しかも、スーパーフードなんて！早速、カレーにして頂きました。葉も食べられますが、今回は、鞘だけ頂きました。
モリンガと言う名前は、タミル語のムルンガイから由来するものだそうで、スリランカでも、ムルンガと呼ばれています。最大生産地もインドやスリランカだそうです。日本名は、ワサビノキと言うそうです。
ちなみに、記事によるとムルンガ(モリンガ)は、種、葉、茎、花、鞘、根全てを余すことなく食べられ、90種類にも及ぶその栄養バランスは世界一と言われ、「生命の木」「奇跡の木」とも呼ばれているそうです。そして、スーパーフードの中でも今年最も注目されていると書かれています。もともと、ムルンガのカレーは大好きでしたがますます食べたくなりました。
食べ方に注意がありますので気をつけて下さいね。鞘のカレーは、繊維が強く噛むことができませんから、鞘の中だけ食べるために鞘を歯にひっかけてしごいて食べます。旅行でスリランカに来られる際には、是非お試し下さいね。
