a kind of Sushi - Battera カフェジャパンのバッテラ

This is a kind of Sushi called 'Battera'.   The shape is rectangular and sliced by Sushi knife.  On sushi rice there are thin kelp and marinated Saba fish.  This is one of popular sushi menu in Japan and you may have it before?   We serve at dinner time upon the customers' requests but you may be able to have it at lunch if you are lucky

皆様おなじみのバッテラです。夜のコースでお客様のご希望により、お出ししていますが、ランチでもラッキーでしたら、召し上がれます。

What a coincidence ! I had just bought Battera at Depa-chika (basement floor of most of the department store is arranged to sell food in Japan and it's called Depa-chika) on Sunday and broght it to my mother's house for lunch. There are variety of battera now, such as wrapped with takana-leaves. I like it.

I like Depa-chika and Eki-naka, too! It's fun just to watch foods. I can not imagine the sushi wrapped with takana-leaves but how about with Nozawana-leaves?

Nozawana-leaves are good to eat by itself, but not good to wrap sushi, in my personal opinion. Takana-leaves are more salty and thicker than nozawana, and therefore better for wrapping. Oh yes, Eki-naka and E-chika are more and more convenient now, eat-in corner or counter table are increasing.
