We had Pampkin soup and toast as breakfast today. We had a homemade Rhubarb Jam with bread. Yummy! Since it is not so popular in Japan, my mother bought them as she thought they were Japanese butterbur. After cooking, she noticed they were not Japanese butterbur but Rhubarb. And she made Rhubarb Jam. I felt so lucky that we could enjoy it by accident.
On Monday, we had a call from a customer. She said she was going to leave from Sri Lanka at that time. She lived with her family and they often ordered our delivery foods. She said, "Thank you." and " we could enjoyed our stay in Sri Lanka with your Japanese foods." I was so happy to hear from her but I could not talk to her well because of my poor English and it was too sudden to recognise her news. I would like to say, "We thank you so much and we were happy, too." We have been said good bye from a lot of customers when they left here though we could feel their warm heart by saying a good bye. We felt sad but hope they see this blog some time there and come back to Sri lanka.
Hi Allen. This is your favorite Hamburger Bento. I have uploaded upon your request. :D At Cafe Japan, we use both beef and pork for the hamburger. We have to say sorry that both of customers who can not eat beef and pork though we would like to say it is a secret of our recipe. It is said that there is a difference of the temperatures melting each beef's and pork's fat and its combination create the taste of hamburger. In Japan, there are a number of hamburger restaurants though the each chef and restaurant creates their own recipe. We have also experimented to change the ratio of beef and pork and finally made our own recipe. Hamburger Bento and Hot hot hamburger on the iron plate at the restaurant has each different recipe each and used different kind of sauce to make them more tasty.:> I think there are homemade hamburger recipes at each house in Japan.
The 4th of February is Independence Day in Sri Lanka. It was quiet in the town since the ceremony was held in the center of the city where is the famous sightseeing place GALLE FACE GREEN and most main roads were closed for security reasons. I have regretted to open the restaurant yesterday morning as I have expected customers would not visit us for the traffic control. However, against my expectations, the customers visited us and I was so happy yesterday. :) And we were happy, too, that we had delivery orders yesterday. Thank you. :D
By the way, we have renewed our restaurant menu from January and delivery menu from February. After the renew in January, we knew the fish menu was popular among the guests at the restaurant. The fish menu is different everyday according to the fish available. NITSUKE fish simmered in the soysauce was the most popular among the guests. Every time when we got fresh fish, I thank to be able to stay in Colombo and it reminds me Japan where fresh fish available.
This is Gourmet Nigiri Sushi Party set. There are 14 kinds of seafoods on sushi rice. It is for the gourmet customers who are getting tired of the usual taste. My recommendation is the fresh clams.(bottom) Yummy, yummy!
