Japanese magazines 本棚 雑誌

There are Japanese magazines and newspapers at the restaurant.   We miss them and we could get the subscriptions even in Sri Lanka.   Now more digital tools are popular though we share with customers during meals.  Not only Japanese but Englidh magazines are here as some foreign customers leave the English magazines as well.  Some airline companies also leave their informations.   Some customers who do not read Japanese seem enjoying watching magazines and comic books.   For Japanese travelers, they seem to be at home when read the magazines and newspapers.   If you miss and get Japanese culture, enjoy!
カフェジャパンにもたくさんの日本の雑誌や新聞があります。スリランカにいながら、購読ができるんですよ！便利な世の中ですね。一般的には電子書籍が便利かもしれませんが、お客様とシェアするので、私たちはもっぱら紙です。日本人の旅行者の方達には、日本の書籍があるとホッとして頂けるようですね。また、外国人の日本語を知らないお客様も漫画や雑誌をご覧になります。本棚はずっと探していた雑誌用の本棚です。コロンボのアンティークショップで買いました。スリランカには、素敵なお店があって、時間がある時は見に行くのも楽しみの一つです。

Yummy and very popular chicken やみつきチキン

 This is a dish we prepare for a dinner course.  There are many chicken menu like Karaage - Japanese style fried chicken and Yakitori - Grilled skewered chicken.   Those are VERY popular as well though some regular customers request this chiken dish.  One of our popular chicken menu. Once it fried and well seasoned in the sauce.   The hidden spice makes the chicken more taste.  You can enjoy flavour of the sesames as well.   This picture is taken in the kitchen and we grined the sesames in the special bowl made by pottery and make a special sauce.  Soon after the chicken fried, it is soaked in the sauce.
色々なお料理がありますが、夜のコースディナーでもよく出されるお料理です。スリランカではチキンをお召し上がりになるお客様が多く、焼き鳥やから揚げはもちろん人気ですが、常連のお客様はこのようなチキン料理をリクエストされることがあります。この写真は厨房で撮った写真で、ゴマの味と隠し味のスパイスがよい風味を出しています。

This is our schedule in May.   We close on 1, 3 and 4 for extra holidays and we close on Tuesdays.
And we renewed our menu from May and no more Daily special menu.  We have other menu and do delivery and take away the same as before.   If you need the new menu, please send your inquiry to us.  Thank you and looking forward to seeing you. 
５月の営業予定です。１，３，４日は臨時休業とし、今までどおり、火曜日ポーヤデーは定休日とさせていただきます。また、５月から日替わり弁当は終了させて頂きます。宅配とお持ち帰りのお弁当はそのまま引き続き行いますので、皆様の注文を心よりお待ち申し上げます。

Sea plants? Sea vegetables? Seaweed? 海藻 ひじき

One week has past after Sri Lankan New Year.   We also spent busy week.   However, soon Vesak Poya day, May day and several holidays will come.  It is very beautiful to see traditional handmade lanterns at each house and a huge decoration around in the city.
In Sri Lankan New year holidays, we went to Sanrik region in Japan where a big Tsunami attacked 4 years ago.  We stayed a ryokan which is Japanese style hotel where attacked by tsunami and reopend after moved new place.   The young owner and staffs are very friendly and have much hospitality and we learnt a lot from them.   The food from the sea and montains are on the dinner course and morning set.   We enjoyed food with a Japanese cook's magic.  The young active owner has beautiful mind and we got cheerful energy from her.
During our stay, we went to the sea and cruised aruond the shore by traditional small boat called bamboo leaf.  We found a lot of Sea plants which we can eat and the boat captain explained many kinds of sea plants and how to cook.   When you see the foods on the plate, some times we can not imagine how it grows and I took the picture to show a kind of Sea plants how it grows.  Don't you think if you knew the materials, you may like more foods and taste them more?   We wish this blog introduce some Japanese foods to you all customers.
By the way, the big earth quake hit Nepal and Sri Lanka, Japan and many other countries are helping them.   We are sorry to the victims and wish all supporters in Nepal and people in Nepal your safe.
スリランカでは新年も明けまして、通常の一週間が過ぎました。皆様いかがお過ごしですか？私たちも、休みボケと戦いながら、一週間を乗り切りました。日本は、ゴールデンウィークに突入のようですが、スリランカももうすぐVesakポーヤデーを迎え、連休が続きます。五月一日はメイデーで祝日で、それからずっとお休みされる方もいらっしゃるかもしれませんね。
さて、スリランカ正月の時に帰国した際に、三陸の海岸に行ってきました。地元の言葉で「さっぱ船」（笹の葉のような船がなまったもの）と呼ばれる小船で少し沖まで出てみました。そうすると、普段は乾燥して売られているひじきが岩にびっしりと生えていました。緑色で、こんなにふさふさと生えるものなのだなあと改めて知ることができました。こういうことを知ると、海藻　ひじきも一段と美味しくなりますよね。撮影はしていませんが、岩のりですとか、地元でしか食べられない海藻などもたくさん見ることができました。
宮古では、素敵な旅館に滞在しました。震災に見舞われた後も、場所を移して経営され、ご家族、従業員の皆様に暖かいもてなしを受けました。お料理も美味しく、地元の食材も使われていました。若女将の元気な暖かいもてなしを受け、私たちも新たな気持ちで続けていきたいとおもいました。
先日からのネパールの有事で、スリランカ、日本をはじめ、各国の国際援助が始まっています。ネパールの国民、被害に合われた方、現地で救助に当たっていらっしゃる方、お見舞いを申し上げると共に皆様の無事を心よりお祈り申し上げます。

Daily special menu and schedule in April (Delivery & take away only) ４月のスケジュールと日替わりメニュー

Hello Everyone!   We are welcoming Sri Lankan New year in April, aren't we?   Now the people are exciting for the new year and shops are crowded by a lot of people for shopping in town!  

By the way, we closed for 10 days in April.   And on 6th, we open only for Delivery and Take away.   We have to say sorry but you can not dine in on the day.   If you are not sure our schedule, just call before visit us.

皆様こんにちは！日本だと新年度の始まりで、新しいスタートの月ですね。スリランカでは、お正月をこの月にむかえお休み前は色々なお店でセールも始まり休暇を旅行ですごす準備をしたり買い物をしたりちょっとうきうきな気分です。また、この時期が一年を通して一番暑い時期にもなります。この暑さは５月ぐらいまで続きます。でも、日本や熱帯以外の国から来たら、十分いつでも暑いかもしれませんね。
さて、今月はカフェジャパンもお休みを頂きます。カレンダーを確認してお越しください。
また、６日は、レストラン営業は行わず、お弁当の宅配とお持ち帰りのみとなりますので、ご了承いただきます様お願い申し上げます。
