Sorry!  We would like to correct our opening schedule below.  We close on 17 of Poya day!

Thank you very much for patronizing our restaurant Café Japan!　　

We would like to inform you that we are going to take delivery orders from 9 am and we deliver foods between 11:00 am and 2:30 pm from1 November 2013. 

As for Sushi orders, we take lunch orders only which placed the order by the previous day.  Sushi orders for dinner, we take orders until 2:00 pm of the same day.　　We are very sorry for causing inconveniences but we are looking forward to hearing from your orders!

いつも、Café　Japanのお弁当をご愛顧頂きどうも有り難うございます。

誠に勝手ながら、11月より宅配サービスは11：00am ～2：30pmに変更させて頂きます。

注文の受付は、9：00amより承っております。

なお、お寿司の注文に限り、お昼の宅配は前日まで、同日夜の宅配は2：00pmまでの注文にて承ります。

今後ともどうぞご利用頂きます様お願い申し上げます。

Vegetables in Sri Lanka スリランカの野菜事情

Have you ever heard Sri Lanka is called 'Paradise' and 'Heaven' ?   The people who have visited Sri Lanka may understand why people call it like them. Sri Lanka is an island surrounded by the sea, there are high mountains and there are varieties of climates in one island.  Always tasty bananas are in the garden and people don't know starving with a plenty of fruits and vegetable. 　When I saw the island from the plane, I thought there is a lot of green and it is so beautiful.
However, people require the diversity in food as well, new vegetable to Sri Lanka is cultivated and imported now.  These days, we found very big onions at the market!  We have been used to use big onions in Japan but I felt it's very strange and huge after years got used to the Sri Lankan small onions.  Above two big onions are new to us and one below is Sri Lankan small onion.
突然ですが、スリランカが「パラダイス」とか「天国」だと言われているのをご存知ですか？ スリランカは、島国で、高い山もあり海に囲まれていて、地域によっては、気候が違い色々な作物がとれ、一年中美味しいバナナが育ち、温暖な気候で米の栽培も盛んで、その上質な気候のせいで、飢えのない、緑と水の豊かな国だからかもしれません。私も、飛行機からスリランカの国を見ると、緑が豊かで綺麗だなあと思います。
一方で、生活スタイルも変化し、食べ物も色々なものが求められるようになり、特にコロンボには、外国料理のお店もたくさんあります。そのニーズに対応するために、スリランカのさまざまな地域の色々な気候を利用して、今まで作られていなかった野菜なども作られ、時には輸入され、マーケットでも見かけるようになりました。
先日は、大きな玉ねぎが売られていたのでびっくりしました。写真の下にあるのがスリランカの玉ねぎで、上の玉ねぎは輸入されたもののようです。日本では大きい玉ねぎを普通に使っていたのですが、スリランカに来て、小さい玉ねぎに慣れてしまうと、大きい玉ねぎが大きすぎて気持ち悪く感じてしまいます。
